WHAT IS COLLEGIATE SHAG?
Collegiate Shag is an energetic, elegant, attention-grabbing swing dance from the 1920s and 1930s. It was originally (and still is) danced to traditional and early swing jazz, but can also be danced to a variety of music with a good rhythm. Shag is currently undergoing a revival worldwide, with shag events and social scenes popping up all over Europe and North America, and as far away as Seoul and South Africa.

Annabelle Hale & Nial Bruce (AUS)
Annabelle and Nial fell in love with collegiate shag after they took their first lessons years ago, and have been working hard to build the shag scene in Australia ever since. This dynamic duo teach regular weekly classes and workshops in Melbourne and regularly travel overseas to teach and compete. Together and individually, they have won over 15 competitions and have taught at shag events like Hot Rhythm Holiday and All The Cats Join In. At the end of the day, Annabelle and Nial believe the best part of shag is the social dancing and all they really want is to share the dance they love with as many people as possible.
